Transforming Workplace Culture Series
I don’t know about you, but these days the idea of turning on the news makes me twitch. I used to be a news junkie. After all the massacres of the last few years, my heart just can’t take it. I can’t look at the faces of sweet innocent victims in a split screen with some maniacal murderers who have, for reasons no one comprehends, taken it upon themselves to annihilate a group of people. I refuse to live in fear. And yet. . . . There is such scary stuff prevalent that it is difficult to imagine a type of location, even those once sacred (worksites, churches, schools, hospitals, airports), that is safe from violation.
When I give keynotes, train, consult or write about Emotional Terrorism in the Workplace, it is within a context of my Methodology of creating Emotional Continuity Management© which is solution focused, affirming, and a system-wide method to manage and prevent emotional chaos. In order to Transform Workplace Culture, it is critical to know the entire range of human emotional response in order to support humans being human while also protecting the bottom line. Workplace Violence is only one point on the continuum of human behavior…but it is one point that is complex and can disrupt and even destroy a work culture. For this reason, paying attention to it as a separate topic is critical to human compassion thinking and good business.
